Wonderful Wedding at Westminster College in Cambridge.

An American Wedding at Westminster College

One of the best things about being a Wedding Photographer in Cambridge is not only the amazing Wedding venues dotted around the city, but the melting pot of people that the diverse and metropolitan City’s population has to offer. The University colleges usually only offer the opportunity for graduates to marry at their venues, but Cambridge university graduates come from all over the world. This couple were no exception, both hailing from the US and looking for a quintessentially English venue for their big day in Cambridge, a city they had grown fond of during their time studying in the UK.

Cambridge Graduate Bride & Groom

With both Bride & Groom graduates of Westminster College, it was the obvious choice as their wedding venue. Historic buildings set in beautiful grounds and gardens in the heart Cambridge were heaped in praise and awe by many of the American contingent, with one claiming enviously, that there was nowhere comparable for a Wedding in the whole of the USA, high praise indeed.

Having met while studying at Westminster college, and now working together in the US military, the bride and groom and now looking forward to heading back to the US to begin married life together. They certainly rounded off their time in Cambridge in style.

Westminster College Wedding in Cambridge

Westminster College sits right in the heart of Cambridge.

It’s a  Grade II listed building bursting with all the  historical beauty and charm you would expect from one of Cambridge University’s college buildings.

The venue has both indoor and outdoor options for drinks receptions, with the front lawn area providing a lovely spot for group photos and portraits, especially if shooting late in the day, during the golden hour when the sun is low and soft.

Inside, this stunning Cambridge venue features a wonderful sweeping staircase which, when bathed in natural window light and is the obvious choice for photo opportunities.

The chapel is quaint and unique, with pews along the sides and an alter at the end of a fairly short aisle, there’e not much natural light in the chapel so photographers will need to be creative with how they capture the  nuptials, that said, It caused me no significant challenges.

The dining room is also fairly lacking in natural daylight, as you would expect with a building of this nature, but the look and feel of theses old rooms are what give these great Cambridge venues their uniques ambience. When the hall is illuminated solely by candlelight the atmosphere created is beautiful and enchanting.

Wedding parities are granted exclusive use of the building and a wedding coordinator is on hand throughout the celebrations to ensure everything runs smoothly.

What the couple say…..

“Damien is the real deal! He is professional and he is an absolute artist. He was very prompt, friendly, approachable, and performed exactly as advertised, beating every deadline he had promised us throughout the process. His portfolio speaks for itself, but he also creates a relaxed atmosphere and captures all the thoughtful details I was too busy to notice on the day. His photos will be treasured in our family for future generations, I can’t wait to show them the pictures from our wedding day. Highly recommend Damien, if you’re on the fence, I’d go for it. He’s a class act and a true creative.”
