Elegant Ely Cathedral and Madingley Hall Wedding in Cambridge

Anna & Mark’s classic style Wedding in Ely and Cambridge

It’s not very often I can see the venue of a wedding from my house but as a local resident that’s exactly what I was able to do for this Wedding in Ely and Cambridge

Morning at The Poets House

We began the day at the Poet’s House hotel located in the heart of Ely city centre and directly opposite the city’s famous medieval cathedral. The stylish city hotel was the perfect location for bridal prep on one of the hottest days of a hot summer and despite the air conditioning failing, the wedding party calmly prepared for the day whilst enjoying the beautiful view over to the cathedral.

Ely Cathedral Wedding Ceremony

There can be few grander venues for a wedding ceremony in the whole of the east of England than Cambridgeshire’s Ely Cathedral. With it’s grand medieval architecture towering over everything that surrounds it in the flat landscape of the fens, it is a truly awesome sight.

The groom is also  a member of a local choir who performed throughout the ceremony making the most of the cathedral’s amazing acoustics making for a memorable ceremony.

Madingley Hall Wedding Reception

After the beautiful ceremony and respite from the searing heat we all headed over to Cambridge for the wedding reception at Madingley Hall. On the outskirts of Cambridge in the village of Madingley, the hall sits grandly on the ridge of a small hill with a long driveway leading up to the building and stunning vistas accross the local surroundings. We made the most of the wonderful open green gardens for the couple shots as guest sipped champagne on the terrace.
