A Wedding at The Old Hall Ely is always special…

The Old Hall Ely is a superb wedding venue positioned in the Hamlet of Stuntney on the outskirts of the beautiful small Cathedral City of Ely in Cambridgeshire.

It’s a hugely popular wedding venue with stunning views across the fens. Big skies and Ely Cathedral make for an epic landscape the surrounds the venue.

The good people at The Old Hall Ely host weddings of all sizes throughout the year on most days of the week. There are an incredibly well run venue and know how to run weddings very smoothly. They have everything covered so everyone can relax and enjoy the day in the knowledge that they’re in very safe hands.

Melissa & Stephen’s Wedding at The Old Hall Ely.

Fun loving part couple Melissa & Stephen had invited over 150 guests to share the celebration with them for their late summer wedding at The Old Hall Ely. Absolutely everyone was there to have a blast.

My day as photographer began in the venue’s bridal suite. At The Old Hall Ely this is plentiful in size and even a bridal party large in numbers will comfortably be accommodate. No chance of getting in each other’s way here, with two rooms for bridal prep housing large mirrors and great lighting in addition to the bedroom itself – which is huge!

On this occasion the planned outdoor ceremony not an option due to the rain. One of the great things about a Summer wedding at The Old Hall Ely is that they’re always prepared. Today they had set up for both outdoor and indoor ceremonies and then made a call around a hour a before he proceedings to move inside. The indoor ceremony room had a real feeling of intensity – all the guests were squeezed in as the entry music played. Stephen the groom was taking deep breaths as the Bride Melissa and her Dad both struggled to contain their tears,  It’s fair to say emotions we running high.

Despite the mixed weather there was ample room for the guest to enjoy reception drinks in the bar before dining in the venue’s permanent marquee.

The Wedding breakfast was followed by hugely entertaining speeches from Melissa’s Dad, the two best men and the groom which were greeted rapturously.

As the afternoon became evening the sun finally burst through and everyone was in party mood and ready to hit the dance floor.  With my camera poised we took this opportunity for some time out, the newlyweds walking the grounds as I captured some natural portraits while scouting for some great light and an opportunity for some intimate captures with some stunning golden light finally emerging.

By the time we headed back inside it was clear everyone was ready to party and the first dance triggered a long night of dancing singing and joyous celebration.
