Es & Lindsay’s Springtime LGBTQ Wedding in Cambridge.

As A Cambridge Wedding Photographer I love nothing more than the opportunity to shoot a Wedding at one on the many stunning venues in an around my home City. So when I was booked to shoot a same sex wedding in Cambridge at  Anstey Hall wedding I was thrilled.

Anstey Hall sits on the outskirts of Cambridge and is a venue that offers a real sense of grandeur and rural charm. It is also jam packed full of character.

The venue has a real knack at being able to host weddings of all sizes whilst retaining a personal and intimate feel. As a photographer it is a fantastic place to shoot. The awesome window lighting and the character of the building both inside and out are a dream, I have never photographed at a venue that offers such stunning window light – perfect for capturing those bridal portraits in the final moments before the ceremony begins and the day unfolds.

A Fabulous LGBTQ Wedding.

My amazing couple at this Anstey Hall wedding were Esmeralda and Lindsay, two American brides who met while Esmeralda was serving for the US airforce during the Iraq war. Their back story was so interesting that a film crew were present to record their day as part of a documentary film about four very different weddings in very different circumstances and places. The common thread was that all of the couples featured had faced or were facing an enormous challenge as they approached their big day. The resulting documentary can be viewed here Four Weddings Documentary. It’s a beautiful film and incredibly moving.

Learning about the couple’s story and of the adversity and discrimination that they faced was both thought provoking and inspirational. A true testament to the old adage that love conquers all.

These wonderful brides were super relaxed and for the whole day they could simply not hide their sheer joy. Shooting their portraits was an absolute pleasure an they needed very little direction.

A Bride’s Best Friend

By far the most popular guest on the day was George. George was not only the best man and the couple’s pet Bedlington Terrier. His behaviour (unlike many best men) was impeccable on the day. He trotted down the aisle carrying the rings in a pouch on his back and seemed completely un-phased by the whole thing.

This really was a wedding full of love and immense fun. Es is a member of a Rugby team and her teammates were determined to make sure everyone had an amazing party, and party hard they did.
