Anna & Martin’s Ely Wedding at The Old Hall,
When you choose a venue for your wedding (particularly in the UK) one thing that is always going to be at the back of you mind is “What will we do if it rains?” For this Ely wedding the couple made a good choice.
Wedding venues are increasingly offering outside garden wedding ceremonies which, if all goes to plan are fantastic – what could be better that sharing your biggest moment with friends and family bathed in beautiful warm sunshine?
The problem is, as optimistic as we British are each spring about the possibility of a long hot summer that lasts from May – September, it never happens that way. We can have inclement weather here at any time of the year on any day and often without warning.
The important thing is to choose a venue that has a plan B (and C) and is well drilled in reacting to late changes in the circumstances. For an Ely wedding The Old Hall is a great choice as they are masters at this!
As the rain poured down the experts quickly turned things around with the ceremony setting being moved to a perfectly suitable spot inside. Despite the weather the guests were clearly having an amazing time and the after dinner speeches were among the funniest I’ve heard.
Finally we were blessed with a break in the weather during the “Golden hour” just before sunset to get some lovely portraits of the couple before they rejoined their guests for a rocking party with a live band.
A fantastic wedding.
