If you’re looking for a non-traditional, boho, festival style or simply a rural feeling wedding in Cambridgeshire – Willow Grange Farm has to be top of the list.

If you love an alternative wedding venue that oozes rustic charm, with buildings that are full of character and texture and has loads of wide-open space and big skies then Willow Grange Farm could be just the venue for you and your wedding

Clara (who runs & lives on the farm) and her now husband Errol got married on the there in April 2019 and loved it so much that they wanted to open it up for others to enjoy, offering weddings, social parties, glamping and events. So while the Farm is long established as a venue it’s an exciting new venture.

Relaxed Weddings

When I first visited the farm to meet Clara she explained her vision for the venue and I instantly knew it would be a great fit for me as a wedding photographer.

As a photographer that loves to shoot non-traditional and quirky weddings, it really ticks all the boxes for me. The buildings have bucket loads of character with loads of awesome nooks and cranies.  The opportunities for capturing stunning couple portraits are plentiful. The textures and colours of the rustic buildings are fabulous and the light in the barns is so beautiful it genuinely excites me!

If I can, I always love to shoot softly lit golden hour portraits and the vast open fenland skies with big open fields mean this can be achieved with ease (if the weather is good of course)

The Shoot

After our initial chat we decided it would be great to get together with some other carefully chosen local suppliers to see how a wedding could look using all of our creative input. Both Clara and I love weddings with a real sense of fun and loads of colour, so these were the two main inspirations behind the shoot.

As with all of the best laid plans the great British weather did it’s best to dampen the mood, but if anything it added to the authenticity of an outdoor event in the UK. The wet weather provided an opportunity to explore the spaces inside one of the barns  and I am so glad we did.  The light inside is to die for – a photographer’s dream.

Clara has some really exciting plans for this cracking venue with a barn conversion shortly underway and the option for both indoor and outdoor ceremonies coming soon. She is going to be very busy…

The images here are from the shoot.
